My time at Ivy Hotel, which later transitioned into Andaz San Diego, was a pivotal chapter in my career, blending luxury hospitality with high-energy nightlife marketing. As the Marketing Manager, I was responsible for the creative direction and execution of marketing strategies that positioned the hotel as a premier destination in downtown San Diego’s vibrant Gaslamp Quarter.
Driving Brand Transition and Growth
When the hotel transitioned from Ivy Hotel to Andaz, a Hyatt brand, I was entrusted with managing the rebranding process, ensuring a seamless integration into the Hyatt family while maintaining the property’s unique identity. This involved a complete overhaul of the property's brand collateral, including print and digital assets, to align with Hyatt’s brand standards. I worked closely with the creative agency and promotional partners to execute a new vision for the hotel, successfully enhancing its appeal to both existing loyal guests and new clientele.
Expanding Digital Presence
Recognizing the shift towards digital marketing, I implemented robust strategies to increase online engagement and customer retention. One of my key initiatives was expanding the hotel’s internal database through digital marketing campaigns and staff incentive programs, resulting in a significant increase in customer loyalty. These efforts directly translated into more repeat bookings and higher occupancy rates for the hotel.
I also oversaw all print and TV shoots for corporate entities, extending the reach of Andaz San Diego across multiple platforms. These campaigns not only drove greater awareness of the hotel’s luxurious accommodations but also promoted its nightlife venues, restaurants, and rooftop bar, making it a standout in San Diego’s competitive market.
Developing Nightlife & Event Marketing
In addition to managing the hotel’s marketing, I was also responsible for promoting its nightlife and event venues, including the popular rooftop bar and club. With a strategic focus on experiential marketing, I planned and executed numerous high-profile events that positioned Andaz San Diego as a go-to destination for both locals and tourists. By leveraging partnerships with local influencers, media outlets, and celebrities, we generated buzz that attracted large crowds and secured the hotel's status as a nightlife hotspot.
